2024 Perth Yearling Sales

Trainer Aiden De Campo is confident he can secure his second Diamond Classic (2130m) win at Gloucester Park tomorrow night, where he has Miss Hepburn ideally drawn.
Miss Hepburn secured her place in the Diamond Classic when she finished fourth behind In A Wink in her heat last Tuesday week and has drawn barrier one for the $100,000 final.
De Campo, who will also drive the filly tomorrow night, said he wanted to give the daughter of Ultimate Machete her opportunity to lead.
&ldquo;I think we give her every chance,&rdquo; De Campo told TABradio.
&ldquo;These races don&rsquo;t come around every year.
&ldquo;Her run in the heat was good.
&ldquo;I should&rsquo;ve popped to the breeze, and I would&rsquo;ve run an easy second or won the race.
&ldquo;I&rsquo;ll give her a chance in front, and I think she&rsquo;s a good top three chance from there.&rdquo;
Xceptional Arma and Water Lou, who won the other two Diamond Classic heats, head up the TABtouch market at $1.95 and $2.90 respectively.
Miss Hepburn was as much as $11 in betting but is now a $6 chance after De Campo indicated he wanted to lead.
De Campo won the Diamond Classic in 2014, where he drove the Jesse Moore-trained Tricky Styx to victory.
Prior to her Diamond Classic heat run, Miss Hepburn showed plenty of potential with a win and two placings in her first three starts.
One of her two placings was a fast-finishing second to Nase Vira in the Western Crown (1730m) in June.
De Campo said he was proud of how the filly had started her career.
&ldquo;She just tries so hard,&rdquo; he said.
&ldquo;Every time you ask for an effort, she just gives you more and more.
&ldquo;That&rsquo;s not really common for a two-year-old filly.&rdquo;
The Capel trainer will also have a significant part to play in next Friday&rsquo;s Pearl Classic (2130m) for the colts and geldings, where he has Grevis and Menemsha qualified.
De Campo said he hoped Menemsha would finally get a good barrier draw.
&ldquo;Menemsha hasn&rsquo;t been blessed with a barrier draw yet, so hopefully it comes next week for us,&rdquo; he said.
&ldquo;On ability and what he does at home, I always said he was going to match it with those better ones.
&ldquo;Hopefully he can show us when it matters.&rdquo;

DE CAMPO HAPPY TO LEAD IN DIAMOND PURSUIT

Moorditj Boy was in a race of his own winning the TABtouch Hcp (1200m) by four lengths from a well-beaten field at Belmont on Wednesday.
The Hayden Ballantyne-trained 3yo jumped straight to the front at his second start and that&rsquo;s the last they saw of him.&nbsp; The race was all over at the top of the straight as jockey Jarrad Noske just shook the reins to keep his mind on the job.
&ldquo;That&rsquo;s a great start to the new season and he made easy work of it,&rdquo; Ballantyne said.&nbsp; &ldquo;He has plenty of ability but was injured in the lead-up to the Magic Millions Classic earlier this year.&nbsp; He came back in super order after spelling and then struck a Heavy 8 first-up.
&ldquo;I&rsquo;ve got a lot of time for him.&nbsp; He&rsquo;s learning race by race and is getting better and better.&rdquo;
Moorditj means great or strong in the Noongar language and he sported special Indigenous racing colours designed by the sister of Ballantyne&rsquo;s former Fremantle Dockers team-mate Roger Hayden.
The well-named son of G1 Randwick Guineas winner Dissident (Sebring) is raced by a ladies syndicate managed by Alyssa Ballantyne after making $60,000 at the 2022 Perth Magic Millions.&nbsp; Moorditj Boy was part of the Western Breeders Alliance consignment as agent for Darling View Thoroughbreds Director Clive Atwell.
His dam Across The Moon (Stratum) was targeted by Atwell for $52,000 at the 2019 Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale at Riverside Stables.&nbsp; The mare&rsquo;s value increased last year when her So You Think sprinter Rocketing By won the G3 Sydney Stakes (1200m) at Randwick.&nbsp; She will visit Darling View champion Playing God this year.
Ballantyne&rsquo;s 5yo mare Vogue&rsquo;s Choice completed a Belmont hat-trick in Saturday&rsquo;s Crown Perth Hcp (1000m). &nbsp;She is a daughter of Darling View sire Patronize and was Ballantyne&rsquo;s first-ever Magic Millions purchase at the 2020 Swan Valley Yearling Sale.

Ace reinsman Aiden De Campo was not even born when his father Andrew travelled to Queensland in April 1991 where he drove stable star Son Of Otara in two events at Brisbane&rsquo;s Albion Park for devastating all-the-way victories, including the country&rsquo;s richest race of the year, the $491,000 final of the Australian Pacing Gold for two-year-olds.
Now the 31-year-old Aiden De Campo has high hopes of following in his father&rsquo;s footsteps by succeeding with outstanding six-year-old Magnificent Storm in three rich feature events at Albion Park next month which carry total prizemoney of $905,000.
He has driven Magnificent Storm six times for six victories and should maintain his unbeaten record with the champion gelding when the New Zealand-bred pacer lines up on the outside barrier in a field of four to contest the $30,000 GPHR Members Sprint at Gloucester Park on Friday night.
&ldquo;Magnificent Storm is beginning very well, and he should go straight to the front,&rdquo; said De Campo, who drove the gelding to an effortless victory over 2536m last Friday night.
De Campo has been engaged to handle the Ray Williams-trained Magnificent Storm in his three Queensland outings &mdash; the $350,000 Rising Sun over 2138m on July 8, the $200,000 1660m Sunshine Sprint on July 15 and the $355,000 Blacks A Fake Queensland Championship over 2680m the following Saturday.
The varying distances of those events will not bother Magnificent Storm, who has proved to be extremely versatile throughout his fabulous 48-start career of 31 wins and seven placings for stakes of $726,717.
